Salvesen and 4.0 Food

Salvesen participates in a webinar on transformation in food logistics which is organized by Generix Group


On June 24th, with the headline "Food 4.0. Logistics news of a booming sector,” a web meeting was held between experts in the food industry to review the situation of all sectors affected by the pandemic in their logistics operations with the our Sales Director participation
The meeting was moderated by Fernando Martínez, General Director of the Alimentaria Magazine, the speakers were Adrián Fariña, Supply Chain Manager at Capsa Food; Alberto Madariaga, Director of Operations at Eroski; María Jesús Sobrino, Territory Manager at Generix Group and Fernando Aguirre as Salvesen representation.

As Generix exposed in his summary about the session, “Confinement forces food logistics to accelerate the digital transformation of the Supply Chain."
The experience during the state of alarm served to the speakers not only to expose the difficulties to which their companies were subjected but also to describe the solutions adopted and the capabilities that technology offers to adapt to changing situations.
All the speakers agreed that the food industry is at a key moment, heading towards an industry 4.0 that will be capable of responding to an interconnected environment in which flexible and efficient production, integration with the client, and processes within prevailing of a collaborative value chain.

Fernando Aguirre insisted that monitoring operations in real-time are key: "Being able to have that information through big data and business intelligence will make it easier for us to obtain information in real time that will help us make decisions," and pointed out that it is not only necessary to collect information, but also to know how to treat it. “This crisis has shown that food security, that the products reach the consumer in perfect condition, is a key element for our development in the sector." In this regard, he stressed the importance of certifications such as the FSSC 22000 of quality and food safety in storage and transport, which Salvesen Logística has, and was convinced that "all companies must progress in this fundamental line.”
